Dear ,
We hope this message finds you well and in peace. Today, we want to address a topic that has been a point of discussion for many: the role of Mary in our faith and how we honor her without crossing into worship.
First and foremost, let me assure you that as Catholics, we do not worship Mary. We reserve worship for
God alone, a practice known as Latria. Our devotion to Mary, termed Hyperdulia, is a profound respect and honor for her unique role as the Mother of Jesus. This distinction is crucial and one that I am always mindful of.
When we recite prayers like the "Hail, Holy Queen," we are not placing Mary above God but asking her to guide us closer to her Son, Jesus. She serves as our advocate, much like a mother guiding her children. Her role is beautifully illustrated in the Wedding
Feast at Cana, where she intercedes with Jesus to perform his first miracle.
Mary's significance is further highlighted at the crucifixion when Jesus entrusted her to John, who symbolizes the baptized, as our mother. This gesture invites us to embrace her as a spiritual mother, guiding us in faith.
